Cross Roads Social Dance & Session

What’s a Traditional Music Session?

A Traditional Irish Music Session (Trad Session for short) is an informal gathering of musicians for the express purpose of playing and sharing traditional Irish music for the enjoyment of all involved. Fiddles, flutes, tin whistles, accordions, bodhrans and uillean pipes are the most common instruments that you will hear played at a session.

At the Irish Fair of Minnesota, we invite you to experience a front row seat to “tunes” that have been handed down from musician to musician over the decades. You'll see and hear some of the finest Minnesota Irish musicians around. The Traditional Singers Club will honor the practice of singing unaccompanied Irish songs that you might find sung in the pubs and homes in Ireland. We may even have a dancer or two join in. It's guaranteed to get your toes tapping!
