Hurling is a very old sport that plays a role in Irish legends. It is said that CĂș Chulainn was a skilled hurler. It is a team sport played with a stick (called a "hurley") and a ball (called a "sliotar"). Players try to score by hurling the ball through upright poles like in American Football or past the goalkeeper as in soccer. Camogie is almost identical to hurling except it's played by women (like baseball vs. softball).
